Two basic music elements made a mark in my live: "Puff the magic dragon" (by Peter, Paul and Mary) and "Temma Harbour". The first is the only "children song" I had and the other is what I all those years later dreamt of: the beautiful voice of Mary Hopkin.
"BFBS" is the "British Forces Broadcasting Service". BFBS at that time had a phantastic program most time of the day throughout the week. English was my second mother language - and I grew up next to a major American military base I could see the roofs of, but with a British military radio station.
One day they began with songs by Mary Hopkin. I left Bremerhaven in 1972, the year Mary retired from music business. The German radiostations ceased to play her songs. So all the years later all I had was the memories of her few songs of this short time. It was so sad. "Temma Harbour" - the beautiful voice from distant earth...
I never got to know more about Mary Hopkin. Except for her marrying Tony Visconti. I envied him...
